and how long before a schooner is the same price as a pint?
April 18 2012 at 3:21 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyIt shows the Aussies can't keep up with British drinking, lol! On a more serious note it will probably end up with people drinking even more because trying to drink a pint in one is a lot harder than 2/3rds of a pint. Yards of ale have just about been wiped out.
March 12 2012 at 6:01 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyGone are the days of the Light and Bitter where you got almost a pint of bitter and a half pint of light ale.
Now if the barman knows what it is you get a measured half of bitter.
Two thirds of a pint will cost the same as a pint within weeks of this coming in.
To me this is another way of bringing in the half litre as a measure of beer. The pint is about all we have left of British measurements.
Just like everything else getting smaller but price goes up. Have you seen how small things are getting.
March 12 2012 at 5:22 PM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down ReplyLoad of Bollo*ks this fake survey is about planting a seed of selling smaller measures for a penny or two less than a pint, making more money for the pub groups. The landlord tennants will get the crumbs and the abuse. If this is the best they can come up with to help failing pubs get ready to see more close.

March 12 2012 at 4:47 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Reply18-34 year olds get drunk at home on cheap cider(lads) or wine(girls) and then go down the pub and drink diet coke.
has anyone asked the greater proportion of pubgoers what they think?
and the measure wont be fair, it'll be an excuse to put a couple of pence on the price of 2/3 pint of already overtaxed beer.
A simple way to increase revenue is drop the price of beer in pubs ( £3.35 ) in my local, oh and bring back smoking as well
March 12 2012 at 3:34 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down Replythats whats up with pubs the smoking ban

£2.25 here. lol
When I last worked in a pub, I used a schooner to hold a measure of Sherry .......get yer flippin hands off me pint !. Is nothing sacred anymore ?. No doubt they'd have us paying the same for a schooner of ale as they did for a pint (money grabbing **ggers).
March 12 2012 at 2:51 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIsn't two thirds of a pint Two nips. Or is that another measure thats been done away with.
Barley wine and Russian stout used to come by the nip owing to its strength. My Grandad would have three in a pint glass.
How strange.
I was drinking from schooners back in the 60's.
Have I turned into Dr Who or is this post WAY too late?
Sherry drinker eh. Remenber schooners well. They think this is something new.
