what about the people that died and all the belongings of survivors would they have been insured by the owners ?

April 16 2012 at 2:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYes but it says the hull and machinery was valued at £1 million - the ship cost £4.7 million to build - it was brand new and the hull and machinery are by far the bulk of the cost .You would not buy a brand new car and ensure only the engine and bodywork against loss -
And damage arising from the First World War mentioned would not arise as " War Risk " is not covered by Marine Insurance Policies in any event - actions of " Princes , Rulers or people and warlike operations " are excluded on any standard Marine Policy
and if the RSA paid out 4,000 then 100 insurers X £4,000 = 400,000
though if claims of £150,000 were put in to them, what happened to the £146,000, not a very detailed article,
