Triumph Heralds love a new one Spitfire, but Triumph were bad my X mrs worked for a Show room and she had to send a brand new TR7 to the paint shop because it was very rusty it had been sitting on a field for 18 months before it was regerstered

carry on buying Audis, and german cars, what british industry is there that hasnt been sold off? - we make black refuse sacks and such like

Buy British and you have these choices:

7. Caterham
8. Bristol
9. McLaren
10. Morgan

Aston Martin produced the most cars out of this list, followed by London Taxis!. Of course, you could also buy a Triumph motorbike, or a bus. The UK still makes a large number of buses, companies are Plaxton, Optare, Wrightbus (in Northern Ireland) and the Alexander Bus Company is Scotland.

So, to summarise, to truly buy British you need to be rich or have a massive family, or simply enjoy riding the best motorbikes in the world.

successive governments have destroyed the british motor industry, we have nothing left! we would all love to fly the flag & buy a quality british car, cameron if you read this instead of cutting everything & making everyone poorer grow some balls & invest in our manufacturing industry because without this we are going nowhere. we cannot survive as a nation of shop keepers as maggie wanted any fool can sell everything we have of value to balance the books, but it has to end soon.

I would love a new Triumph Herald, Rilly Kestral, Austin 1100, Morris 1000, Wosley, Oxford Cambridge,
Even a Real Mini not them new looking things but a proper British car, can't think of any, what do we Build
I mean build completly including the Engine there arnt any, only the odd classic thats rebuilt, which are out of my price range.

Argument really depends on what you cass as a British Motor Industry - the alternativer argument is Briton doesnt have a motor industry at all. The last time we tried that it was an utter disaster with cr** models. worse management and a selfish workforce that did nowt but strike. There isnt a single (main stream) car made in Briton that is British owned/managed and long may it continue.

I echo the remark - 'Get your facts right'. Many models of foreign-badged cars are made in the UK - Honda (Swindon), Toyota (Derbyshire), Nissan (North East) and so on. Some Peugeots are made in Coventry. Renault vans are made in Luton (cross-badged Renault and Vauxhall I think). Rolls Royce are made part in Germany and finally put together in Sussex. Bentley are built in Crewe but use VW engines and drivetrains. Land Rover are made in Solihull. Jaguar are wholly designed and made in the UK (maybe the gearbox and certain parts are foreign sourced). They are owned by an Indian company, like Land Rover, but that doesn't make them Indian! I think I've got most of the facts right - apologies for any errors.

So we do have a British motor industry, though most of it is foreign owned.

Triumph are still building best of British, only on 2 wheels though, Triumph motorcycles, excellent build quality and rideability in the real world, beats a japanese rice rocket any day
