Someone ought to tell Morrisons Supermarkets about this as they don't belive that you can be a manager and work part-time. My daughter was a department manager for them before she had her son last year on a salary of approx. £22,000 pa. However because of childcare difficulties she couldn't work on Fridays when she went back to work, though she had every other day covered. This wasn't good enough for them and they told her that if she couldn't do Fridays then she would have to lose her position. She had to start again at the bottom and now works part-time for them. It seems short-sighted to me that they have lost her skills when she could have kept her position as a job-sharer. She's not on her own, she knows several women that have had to do this but her union USDAW are not interested.

My wife works partime 27 hours a week but Workks and Pension class her as full time so when I tried to clain some benefit after working 30years and paying into the system £500, 000 + in tax and national insurance I am enttitled to zero .
So I ask the question what an empolyer thinks is partime is not what the goernment agrees with, very crafty I say!
Less than or equal to half full-time hours is part-time I guess. Working equivalent of 4 days a week can't really count as part-time. Job seekers are allowed to work part-time up to 16 hours a week, I'd imagine that is the cut-off.
