The reason parents on benefits (not all) pretend to split up, is so when the partner works, the then so called single parent gets rent paid, council tax etc. The partner only has to pay 20% through the child agency.
This is why many parents do not get married and do not declare they have a partner, or who the father is.
This is why if everyone had a DNA sample on record, then this massive benefit fraud would be addressed.
