More people are union members now, than in the 1970's.
And it was incompetent managers that destroyed industry back then, along with the rise in cheap far-east labour.
It would be interesting see how you are going to train so many, get them through the psv test, and the necessary crb check in the time available.
Sack them all and give the jobs to people who actually want them.
The Unions destroyed our country in the 70's, they are a dinosaur from the past.
Going On from what the Rail, Maritime and Transport union says that the strike will have a 'Massive Impact' on the tube and rail networks. Do they think what impact the tube Strikes and the break downs what they have has on the buses, for one the buses have to take their tickets, this then gives the buses more passenagers to carry, with the passenagers taking it out on the drivers of the buses. Where the tube drivers only do one thing, drive the train, the bus drivers has to be tourist information, collect fares, sercurity to passenagers and drive the bus and put up with the other road users. On tube strikes no-one thinks of the 'Massive Impact' it has on the buses.
I don't agree with the buses wanting £500 for working during the Olympics but if one form of transport is getting some money it should be across the whole of the Britain as the Olympics is not just in London. and during the Olympics there will be bus drivers from all over Britain in London from all different companies all working together as one company for LOCOG. These drivers will come from Newcastle right down to Weymouth. I dont agree with a strike but all the companies have to stand together and all unions should be together on this, just think of the bus drivers which are not in UNITE union they have to go to work and have the hassle of dealing with all the passenagers which be moaning that they being waiting for a long time as they can't get on the limitted buses which would be running and what may be full all the time.
Yes the London Underground and London Overground are TfL the Docklands Light Railway is a private company running it for TfL, this is the same as the buses are running the services for TfL (London Buses).
Good.
Everyone else should do the same.
Stuff the corruptolympics up the politicians rear ends.
Private road lanes for the "important" people ?
This sabotage was scripted by Unite months ago - they will do anything to destroy the good name of the country. They are evil, wanting to damage the economy and force jobs overseas.
They will fail. The country will rise up and they will be sorry. No employees = no union members.
If they do strike then can you imagine the public backlash? The workers are puppets being manipulated for Unite's far left agenda on behalf of the labour party, many of their members being financed by them.
stupid ,stupid people. Call me dave is looking for any diversion of public attention he can get, this will cost them dearly.

June 18 2012 at 2:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIf they don't want a job then tell them they are free to leave if they don't like their current terms, there's plenty of others who would jump at the chance of a job. The underground train drivers etc are I believe employed by Transport For London who came to an arrangement with them, the Bus drivers are not, and so its up to them to deal with their own private company. All unite are doing is there usual sh*t stirring, the sooner the dinosaurs running that Union get out the better. Quote "The union said more than 20,000 workers should receive a £500 bonus to recognise the "massive increase" in workload during the Games". What happens during quiet periods then, do they take a pay cut? You drive a bus from A to B, so what difference does it make if the bus is full or half empty? You may be required to work extra hours when its busy because of special circumstances, well thats the norm for any business! These people need to get real or (hopefully) get out!
