My husband has worked for a major supermarket for 5 years, because that was all he could get in the area. He had been self employed. He would love to earn the so called average wage, He does 39 hours a week at all sorts of times, any day of the week. We have no social life as we never know when his shifts might be changed. My daughter of 25 has looked at loads of jobs & been to many interviews, for the last 18 months she has managed to get 20 hours a week at a retail chain, once again because it is shift work, she can't hold down another job of 20hours because she never knows when she will be working, There is something very wrong with the government figures, have they been 2massaged" to give the government a rosy glow?
