Fuel duty rise delayed until January

Considering that something like 90p of the price at the pump is taxation then a fall from 142/litre to 131/litre - 11p on an actual price of around 50p/litre seems very much like a 20% reduction to me!
Typical AOL reporting - rubbish! Anything to make you angry enough to comment upon it.

At least this govt listens to at least some public opinion ! Unlike the last lot who took us to war on a wing and a prayer on hearsay !
Least the Tories have got the guts to turn around and revoke some bad ideas altogether ! Could you see Bliar and Brown doing the same ? No cos all they wanna do is make some fast cash on a gold lined pension scheme afforded by all of us peasents ! Labour for the working man ? Get rea and wake up they are ALL bad but none more so than Labour l !

A freeze in fuel duty is not enough.When will these arrogant pompous toffs wake up.Their grand plan is clearly not working.A sustantial CUT in fuel duty is needed.This would make many people feel better ,they would then spend money in the shops etc and the government would get more tax.Instead we get the Governor of the Bank of England giving us even more doom and gloom,I believe this Government want to maintain the present state of affairs because they do not suffer and it keeps all us peasants where we belong ,at the bottom scrambling for any crumbs.It also keeps wages down.The whole system in this Country today is corrupt.

It is still going to come, and will no doubt come on the back of more fuel price rises in January with Gas and Electric.

Why not just scrap these tax increases until the UK is more stable instead of hitting everyone just after Christmas when everyone is more strapped for cash...typical of this government to make it look like they are doing us all a favour, there're not they will take it another way

I do not usually write in support this government but thank goodness someone there has seen sense and realised what damage the high fuel prices are doing to the economy. Well done to the fair fuel campaign for their lobbying and continued vigilance in explaining to the government the folly of extortionate fuel tax.
Simple mathematics, High fuel prices = higher consumer prices = less jobs+ more pain for normal working people.
