July 05 2012 at 7:10 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyI don't know why children have to have dummies in the first place. Babies suck their thumbs. Walking around a supermarket and seing children as old a four or five with a dummie in it's mouth is distugsting. I have seen the dummie fall on the floor, mum picks it up, sucks it and puts it back in the child's mouth!!!

Also really dislike photos of lovely babies or toddlers with a huge dummy hiding their face.
July 05 2012 at 5:28 AM Report abuse Permalink +3 rate up rate down ReplyFar better to have a dummy than suck a thumb for two reasons: 1. Parents can remove the dummy when they consider it appropriate, they cannot remove a thumb. 2. Thumbs do far more damage to the teeth than dummies, since the bone in a thumb is hard.
July 05 2012 at 5:51 AM Report abuse Permalink +3 rate up rate down ReplyThe thumb comes out when the children play, the dummy stays in. It's a horrible, unhygenic modern appliance.
July 05 2012 at 7:41 AM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate downBut too many parents don't remove the dummy ! Every time the child makes a noise the dummy is shoved in their mouths . Some children seem to have a dummy permanently stuck in their mouths . I have seen many mums stick them back in when the child has taken it out because the child is desperate for interaction from the parent .
