How to stay healthy for less
Over the last couple of years, savvy shoppers have become used to getting money off restaurants, clothes, spa treatments and groceries using vouchers and voucher codes. But with NHS funding cuts forcing more and more people to pay for medical treatment, health-related deals are also growing in popularity.
Peter Briffett at daily deals website LivingSocial said: "With rising costs and increasing pressure to seek the very best in health care, today's consumer is increasingly attracted to deals for health-related services.
"From dentist exams and health reviews to chiropody, we see high levels of interest in these deals."
Here, we look at how you could benefit. If any of the deals below are unavailable, we suggest you search the health sections of the LivingSocial, Myvouchercodes and Vouchercodes websites for similar offers.
General health
If you are concerned about the state of your health, or would just like the peace of mind that comes with a thorough check up, why not take advantage of a LivingSocial deal allowing you to claim a full medical assessment and blood profile worth £380 for just £84.
The examination - which includes an assessment of your lifestyle and your medical and family history, as well as your cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, neurological, and dermatological systems - takes place at Thirty Dover Street and will be conducted by a GMC (General Medical Council) registered Doctor.
Eyes
While most of the best health-related offers available are found online, this is not always the case. Boots customers, for example, can claim an eye check at either Boots Opticians or D&A opticians for just £10 - rather than £20 at Boots or £27.50 in D&A (for non-NHS customers).
What's more, should the eye check reveal that you need glasses, you can get a further £10 off a pair from the Boots £79 or above range. The voucher is valid until August 31 and is currently being given out with certain purchases. Visit your local Boots store for details of this and other offers.
Myvouchercodes, meanwhile, is currently listing a voucher that entitles you to a free eye test and 10% off all purchases at Optical Express.
Teeth
It pays to take good care of your teeth, especially when you can get a full dental exam at 100 Harley Street worth £150 for just £39 through LivingSocial.
With state-of-the-art equipment endorsed by the British Dental Association, the bright and spacious surgery is designed to put every patient at ease during the hour-long oral hygiene check that includes two X-rays and a full mouth and teeth clean.
Weight
If your main concern is your weight, Vouchercodes is currently running a number of deals that could help you shed those extra pounds.
The offers on the site at the moment include free registration, first session and cookbook at Weight Watchers (valid until July 14) and 5% off orders from Slimming Solutions.co.uk (valid until December 31).
Weird and wonderful
Colonic irrigation is supposed to be just the ticket for anyone feeling sluggish and under the weather, and LivingSocial offers those keen to give it a try the chance to visit London's The Therapy Rooms Clinic for just £34 (rather than £80).
Alternatively, for £99, you could enjoy three treatments with a retail value of £200, all carried out by specialised practitioners.
