Record number of apprenticeships

The National Apprenticeship Service sounds like a bloated quango to me. IF employers need apprentices then they can just go and hire them.
I did many years as an apprentice, yes I was exploited, doing jobs nobody else wanted to do BUT doing jobs way beyond my years too. Great fun with a great bunch of guys.
Give industry decent tax breaks and leave the rest to them.

This is just an excuse for very very cheap labour. Besides these poor youngsters will then be kicked back on the dole with no chance of getting another job after they have been trained, and their jobs given to the next batch of school leavers.
