My council tax has gone up from £34 per month in 1997 to £106 per month today.The only difference is that now our bins are emptied every two weeks instead of every week and we now have a chief executive on a six-figure salary. Most of the council employees would not be able to hold down a full-time job in the private sector and know they have got a job for life and a pension to match all paid for by the council tax payer. Only 20% of the electorate vote in council elections so they hardly have a mandate to rule over us.

perhaps if we stopped paying benefits to immigrants and giving housing and school places, and free health care to just about anyone who turns up on our shores and claims this long list of benefits to them, without paying a single penny into the system which they bleed to death. We might just might be able to increase the state pensions paid to our existing pensioners who DID PAY INTO THE SYSTEM there are billions upon billions to be saved here, by the sweep of a pen should any goverment start looking after the people who actually provide these pensions housing benefits and health care to the non payers and non british passport holders no one born outside the shores of this country should get

Employee and employer contributions still come from the same source, the tax payer. The reduction of 2.2% still leaves council employees very generously treated. Bear in mind they get a state pension as well.
A £600 million saving is petty cash given the liabilities.
No wonder the proposals were overwhelmingly accepted.
