one thing missing here,A MINISTRY OF LOGIC a bunch of unqualified fools
November 04 2012 at 12:51 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyBut the government were so convinced the process was fair and given due diligence. To me it seemed clear that they didn't want Virgin to win the franchise.
Greening now looks an idiot for her stance.
Let them continue running the lines, they do a good job, I travel with Virgin and in all the times in the past 6-7 years they have only been late over 20 mins and that was due to flooding and storms on the lines, not their fault. I know other people who use the east coast line who don't rate First.
This would not have happened if that screaming lunatic Thatcher had not fouled up a perfectly good state railway system, just as she fouled up just about everything else when she was in power.
And let's stop talking about the Falklands, the Labour party (David Oven) solved an almost identical Falkland problem several years earlier without a war, and without loss of life. (But at the time the Labour party was not behind in the opinion polls, and did not need a boost, as Thatcher did a few years later).
Think you mean David Owen, but otherwise, spot on. I assume you mean he sent submarines.

The Conservative and Lib-Dem parties are running the country and therefore should shoulder the blame equally, that's £20 million each thank you because as a tax payer I'm sick and tired of all the cock-ups from the pair of them.
If this is Public School education then God help us all 'cos a more incompetent bunch would be hard to find unless you look at Miliband and his idiots!
A Public school education is better than none at all, which probably describes you. Civil Servants make these decisions and the politicians simply runner stamp them. Have you never seen the TV program Yes Minister? I do fear for the future of this country if people like you are allowed to vote.
October 03 2012 at 4:18 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOnce again the public sector employees (civil servants) prove their total inadequacy being given the run around again by the private sector. No doubt Unison et al, will be manning the barricades yet again in support of these useless highly pensioned individuals.
October 03 2012 at 12:38 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyTotally in support Nigel, there will be a Unison revolt, no doubt led by that odious individual Prentis. It is so easy for the 'grunts' to blame the Government but, having had extensive dealings with Civil Servants, I can assure everybody that they are, in the main, the most inadequate set of individuals that I have ever known, so full of their own importance and, unwilling to give more than their statutory hours for their country.
October 03 2012 at 4:25 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyWhat is it with you private sector ********* and these so called highly pensioned individuals shite. I worked for the civil service for over 23 years as a middle manager and came away with a £7,000 a year pension. You guys talk absolute crap. Instead of whining because you didn't make appropriate plans for your retirement - get off your backsides and get your own pension.
And don't believe everything you are fed about the civil service - I've worked in both sectors and the private sector are lazier and more likely to be corrupt.
