How come that the money can be found to buy assets but we have to go to the Middle East And China for the money to buy wind farms and powerstations?
October 04 2012 at 3:13 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyBecause investors will invest in gilt edged securities as these are basically risk free investments - money invested in windfarms and powerstations and other businesses are not risk free investments ..
In fact two of the six large power generators operating in the UK are refusing to invest in new powerplants in the UK as it is simply not profitable - EON makes 2% net margin- apart from British Gas power generation in the UK is not really profitable as the energy prices in the UK generally much lower so investors invest in other Eurpean markets - expect the lights to start going out in 2020 unless this changes
