October 16 2012 at 5:49 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIf you want to see the MPs who 'earn' the money outside Parliament, check through the Register of Members' Financial Interests ... David Milliband's is a particularly interesting one ... £75K in the past year from Sunderland FC, £93K for making speeches, £112K from VantagePoint CleanTech Advisory Council, £25K from Stanford University, £65K from being a member of the Advisory Board to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, circa £8K per quarter (£32K per year) from Senior Advisor to Indus Basin Holdings, then add in all the freebies from various Governments around the World ... not a bad little earner ...

October 15 2012 at 10:36 AM Report abuse Permalink -2 rate up rate down ReplyWhy should MPs have final salary pesion schemes, they should have the same as the rest of us i.e. a pension pot that is equivalent or more likely less than we have paid in for. And lets see them retiring at 66 or older on a state old age pension of £128 pound a week.
October 15 2012 at 10:28 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhatever they are paid, they will fiddle enough on their expenses to make up for any decrease.
October 15 2012 at 10:28 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAnyone who has time for a second job is not working full time as an MP and all other jobs that I know of have work targets to reach if they want to keep their job. Lawyers have damn good salaries, but pay for their own pensions in full. As for school heads, I was surprised to find that those who live to pensionable age ( if they retire at 60), only pick up their pensions for an average of 18 months before they die!
October 15 2012 at 9:46 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replythey should be paid by the hour. ( and sitting in a bar drinking wine should not count as work )
October 15 2012 at 9:18 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThey should only be paid for actual work done which improves the country and makes things better for the public. On this basis nearly all of them would actually need to pay back everything that they have been paid!!! THEY ARE BL**DY USELESS.
