I am a typical East Londoner and always argue price, having owned a shop I know that the recommended retail price is only there to make discounts look good, although in real truth the so called discounted price is with few exceptions the real value of the item and the sellers know this. I rarely pay full asking price for anything, the result being I have cut my spending by at least 20% and with a bit of arguing can get even better deals. Anyone paying the full asking price is a mug as if one company will not sell at the price offered you can garuentee that their competitors will.
