December 21 2012 at 8:31 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyI'm one of these pensioners in fuel poverty and my WFA has gone towards 1 tonne of coal (£350, up 8% since last year). I'm sure that either the way inflation is calculated is wrong or someone is 'massaging' the inflation figures. Oxfam and Mr BB would be better asking why the tax payers have to subsidise low wages just so the Uk can compete in a globalised market place because it is tax credits that is the biggest part of the benefit cost.
December 21 2012 at 6:47 AM Report abuse Permalink +3 rate up rate down ReplyWell said Oxfam. It's heartening to see that others can see the blatant unfairness of the way the government is tackling the deficit. The tax avoidance in this country is truly staggering. I'm beginning to think the only ones who pay tax are the poor honest workers and on VAT. Though the rich can avoid that too apparently!
