Oi!
SANTANDER!
NO!
Type your comment hereGod help any customers of either of these two banks. All that Santander touch turns to a pile of s aitch one t. They are beyond inept, they are ludicrous. I came very close to reporting them to the ombudsman but decided it would be easier to vote with my feet. There being several hundred cases lodged with the ombudsman already..
The lost cheques, they bounced them when there was more than sufficient funds to cover (creating a bad impression of me and my business) they credited me with money I wasn't entitled to and then denied doing it. They returned cheques to me as 'unpaid' even though the money had quite clearly gone out of the account and the creditor paid. I could go on but it just gets tedious.
My advice to any customers of Clydesdale or Yorkshire banks. Go and find another bank. These people wiill just leave you frustrated and angry.
My advice to anyone that is considering using this bank is, don`t, and if you are a customer of any bank or building society that Santander show interest in taking over, close your account immediately and switch to another. A lot of Santander customers have had thousands of pounds go missing from their accounts, myself included had £30,000 disappear and it took me over a year to get it refunded. Another couple I met whilst waiting to see the ombudsman lost over £50,000. Since Santander started trading in the UK there have been over 67,000 complaints of money going missing. So be very aware!

January 21 2013 at 12:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhy don't the other banks offer 3% on their current accounts, like Santander does. You can't even get a Bond for anywhere near this percentage.
January 21 2013 at 12:43 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAll you people moaning about Santander. I have been a customer for years and have never had a problem. I find the staff and the service very good. I also have a small current account with Natwest ( it was my main account until I changed to Santander), and I have had more trouble with Natwest. They have made account errors and both Branch staff and their telephone customer service staff have been rude.
January 21 2013 at 12:06 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhere is the monopolies commission ??? Surely they should not allow one bank to absorb all these small outlets ??
January 21 2013 at 11:55 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThere are approximately 500 banks operating in the UK - you have far more choice on banks than supermarkets, petrol, utilities otr just about anything else - it is simply the UK public are to stupid or to idle to shop around for banking - over 70% stay with the same bank for life .
And you have been able to open an overseas bank account for over 40 years - much better deals are available abroad in many cases yet less than 1% bother
. As usual the Brits like to whinge but don;t ever expect them to do anything about it even when they can !!!
don't ever go to a spanish bank they seem to be able to do anything they want. I am still suffering from a small loan .
