British consumers often get a raw deal when it comes to broadband speeds, frequently receiving a sub-standard service. Ofcom have reported many instances where the internet speeds that customers are saddled with are much slower than those advertised. On average, UK broadband users receive only 49% of advertised headline speeds with the actual speed experienced averaging at 3.6MB/s - a long way from ‘superfast’.

    Although I find AOL fairly slow to log on most of the time (I live in a rural area), I haven't found any other ISP who gives me Broadband plus free anytime phone calls for £14.99 per month and has a freephone helpline that's answered quickly by a UK operator.

    Move to Virgin BB i have 20mb but i am tempted for the 50mb connection ! Easy Peasy 2 pcs 1 laptop and wii all going in the fast lane.

    I get a half meg connection, let alone the 8 meg plus some ISP's advertise. And I pay the exact same as those with faster connections.

    aol charged more for dial up than broadband,so forced to upgrade to broadband and locked into another contract,my new broadband does not gennerate enough bandwith to play video clips from youtube ect,aol is the pits
