Credit crunch, what credit crunch? After Christie's recent £41 million auction of a Claude Monet waterlillies there seems to be no stopping the current art market
Just a couple of days later, Sotheby's sale of Impressionist and Modern Art brought in £102,246,500 - well in excess of its pre-sale estimate and a record for the company in Europe. In a buoyant saleroom, an unprecedented 90% of the lots offered found buyers, so somebody still has money to spare.
