Who earns the most in football?

Sven Goran Eriksson
Sven's still on big bucks

One way to keep the bailiffs away is to work in football. The world's top paid manager gets almost £7m a year, while the planet's highest-earning footballer is on more than £16m.

You don't even need to have a job to be on this kind of money in football, as Sven Goran Eriksson can prove.

The coach, sacked by England after their miserable exit from the Germany 2006 World Cup last summer, is still being paid out according to the terms of his contract.

This made him Earth's third best paid football manager in 2006 according to France Football magazine, when he brought home £3.5m, which should help his wining and dining needs.

Similarly, Forbes has provided a comprehensive table of which footballers bring home the most bacon, adding all the sponsorship wonga to the players' annual salaries.

Take a look at the football rich list to see which coaches and players you can expect to see at your nearest Aston Martin showrooms and Rolex stores.
